What Blaydes and Aspinall had to say about this UFC fight night: Blaydes Vs. Aspinall?

Tom Aspinall is scheduled to headline a UFC fight night: Blaydes Vs. Aspinall is in London this weekend opposite Curtis Blaydes. Ahead of his second consecutive main event in front of a home crowd, Aspinall is seemingly concerned about UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou’s future in the UFC is uncertain as he recovers from a knee injury. The heavyweight champion is also eyeing a boxing crossover fight with Tyson Fury, which has been a major factor in his contract dispute with the UFC.

When asked what his thoughts were on ‘The Predator’ re-signing with the UFC, Tom Aspinall said he wasn’t bothered by it. The Englishman admitted that he had yet to cover some of the ground for a shot at the champion, so these matters were of little significance to him.

Aspinall told Daniel Vreeland in an exclusive interview:

“Do you want my honest opinion? I don’t think like that. I think Francis Ngannou is very dangerous, but for me right now, I think he’s way above me. Like, I’ve got a lot of work to do before I get there. .”

Except for his upcoming opponent, Blades, everyone else seems irrelevant to the rising heavyweight contender. Aspinall claims he has single-handedly directed his attention to ‘Razor’ since he began preparing for the fight. The 29-year-old further told Vreeland:

“Like, I’m fighting Curtis Blades next week. I’m not thinking about anybody else for the last ten weeks or however long I’ve been training for this fight. Like everybody else, the guy I’m fighting is irrelevant to me on this planet. Different from that, so that’s what I’m thinking about.”

The British heavyweight has never gone the distance in his 12-2 pro career, topped by five finishes in the UFC. Aspinall will face his toughest test when he meets Curtis Blades, who has lost one of his last seven, courtesy of a Derrick Lewis KO.

Tom Aspinall is confident of winning heavyweight gold within a decade but is currently focusing on his upcoming opponent. It would be ‘foolish’ to look past the Blades, according to the Wigan heavyweight, who believes everyone is ‘duckling.’ The 29-year-old Yahoo! Sports:

“I’m not at all interested in looking past Curtis. It would not be very reasonable to pass up someone so good. On paper, this is the hard test of my career. He’s the guy everybody avoids in the division. I’m fully aware of that, but if everybody avoids him, that makes me want to fight him more.”
